Youth and Family Programs Coordinator, The Columbus Museum

This position of Youth and Family Programs Coordinator is a full time position in the Museum Education Department.
Some weekends required.
Reports to Curator of Education.
This position will have responsibility over family and children’s programs, including:
- Studio class program for children and families
- Family Days
- Weekly summer performances
- Interactive activities and family guides for exhibitions and permanent collection installations
- Hands-on children’s gallery
Major Duties
- The incumbent works closely with the Curator of Education in planning programs for children and families.
- The incumbent coordinates the development and evaluation of quarterly studio class offerings for children and families, including the supervision of registrations, attendance records, and supply inventory.
- The incumbent coordinates and manages all aspects of Family Days, including programming, supply inventory, audio-visual needs and volunteer coordination.
- The incumbent coordinates and manages all aspects of the Wonderful Wednesday weekly summer performances including programming, registration, audio-visual needs and volunteer coordination.
- The incumbent is responsible for the development and promotion of the interactive activities and family guides for exhibitions and permanent collection installations.
- The incumbent coordinates and oversees the ongoing maintenance of the hands-on children’s gallery.
- The incumbent assists with the development and promotion of all educational programs and the use and maintenance of audio-visual equipment.
- The incumbent is expected to provide other support services as may be required from time to time.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- The incumbent should possess excellent teamwork skills, be well organized, creative, have strong communication skills, be able to handle multiple tasks, and be computer literate. The desire and ability to work well with other staff members, volunteers, teachers and the public is essential. Teaching and/or arts programming experience is a plus.
Qualifications
Educational:
Minimum of bachelor’s level degree in art, education, history or humanities is required.
Prior experience preferred.
